Comparison of skin hydration degrees based on moisturizing time in children's atopic dermatitis

Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a skin disease accompanied by an inflammatory reaction influenced heredity and environment. commonly occurs in infants children. Overcoming dryness of the important strategy management AD. One way using moisturizer (emollient) to increase barrier function. This study aimed compare degree hydration based on moisturizing time children with AD, immediately after bathing 30 minutes bathing.Methods: analytical study's design was quasi-experimental (pre-post clinical trial) conducted dermatology-venereology policlinic Universitas Sumatra Utara Hospital. Subjects who met inclusion criteria were 2-14 years William's criteria, no recent use topical preparations, informed consent approved. The bath soap used Johnson's® baby milk those containing ceramide-3 (Atocalm®), respectively, applied twice day. Moisturizing given volar part right forearm left forearm, respectively. measured Corneometer CM 825®, taken four times 1st, 8th, 15th, 21st day, categorized into very dry skin, normal skin. Test analysis SPSS software p<0.05 significant.Result: Thirty-seven AD followed this study. median age 5 (2-13) years, female sex (21 [56.8%]).
